How To Begin Writing A Book

Filed under: Novel writing — Tags: — admin @ 7:32 pm

Many people wonder how to begin writing a book, often, people dream of being an author but just don’t know how to begin. Whether you have been writing all your life, or are just beginning, starting a book can be difficult. There are several things you can do to help yourself get started.

One of the first things they recommend is for you to write an outline of your book. If it’s fictional, title your chapters to help you think of ideas for the book itself. If it’s a bibliography, perhaps start when you were born. If it’s a history book, you can start at the beginning, but of course, you can start at the end of your book and work from there also.

Others enjoy writing the character and getting the characters down in their head before they begin writing. You have to find your own way and what you enjoy but the biggest thing is to get started. In other words, don’t wait for that rainy day, before you know it all of your time will be gone and your book never will get started.

Make a promise to yourself that you’re going to sit down and write for at least a half an hour every day. You can almost bet that that half an hour is going to turn into longer periods of time. You’re going to be surprised how quick you get going. But, start somewhere, beginning, middle, or the end and continue writing.

Remember, you don’t have to finish the book all at once, you can pick it up whenever you have free time or think of something you want to stay. But the biggest thing is to get started somewhere, somehow, and fulfill your obligations to write a bit of time each day.
