Have you decided that you want to write a novel? Most people who say that never finish. Would you like to be one of the few to really be true to your word?
First you need a good idea for your novel. This is called a plot, which is basically your storyline. Be creative! You can write about whatever you desire to! Regardless of the type of plot you have, there should always be some type of conflict for the main character. The end of the novel should provide the resolution of the problem.
